GRAMMY®-nominated Tove Lo and Web3 anime project Shinsei Galverse unite for a nostalgic 90s music video

The Galverse community was actively involved in the creation of Lo's latest MV, establishing a novel standard of collaboration and serving as excellent preparation for the forthcoming anime pilot premiering in 2024. A tour de force, promising a brighter future for the 8,888 gals!

"I wanted to create a science fiction spectacle that beautifully merges the emotions of love and a grand cosmic narrative," revealed Ayaka Ohira, the director, and co-founder of Shinsei Galverse, a Tokyo-based Web3 anime project uniting a global community. Together with Tove Lo, they explored the multi-faceted dimensions of women—embracing vulnerability, strength, intensity, and eccentricity—all brilliantly embodied in Tove's character, she further explained.

Today, GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer Tove Lo has released her dance-pop single 'I like u,' along with a hand-drawn anime music video that will captivate 90s anime fans. In collaboration with Shinsei Galverse, the LA-based Swedish artist delves into a realm where boundless creativity thrives, fueled by the magic of the Web3 space. This gal-liance is set to make waves and gather a massive following, as Lo's summer tune pays homage to the exhilarating beats of 90s dance music, while Ohira paints an eye-catching canvas of nostalgic and futuristic visuals, seamlessly merging classic sci-fi anime aesthetics with digital tech.

Embarking on a cosmic journey, Tove's anime persona intertwines with the vibrant tapestry of Shinsei Galverse, breaking free from the confines of her creative universe. Intimate flashbacks featuring Tove's robot lover, Annie, from the hit 'No One Dies From Love,' add emotional depth to the tale. As an impending alien invasion casts a dark shadow over Tove's planet, her yearning for lost love triggers a profound metamorphosis, transforming her into a Gal with a scorpion-like tail. A chilling revelation surfaces—her newfound abilities are intricately tied to the primal survival instincts of scorpions, where consuming their mates becomes an essential adaptation for enduring a challenging environment.

Lo eagerly shares the world of Galverse with her fans in this electrifying collaboration. Beyond mere homage to the '90s and '00s, the result embraces the essence of that golden age. The Galverse team enlists industry legends celebrated for their contributions to gems like AKIRA and Spirited Away. Art Director Hiromasa Ogura's backdrop art and direction exude a timeless allure, drawing inspiration from his work on Ghost in the Shell. Meanwhile, Ohira brings her honed talents, cultivated under cel-animation masters, skillfully infusing the project with her unique brilliance. Throughout, the team's unwavering passion and dedication shine, striving to create an exceptional fusion of music and anime.

The creative initiative unfolds a new standard within this joint effort by actively involving the community in shaping its video's ideas, characters, and designs with diverse perspectives. Representing a groundbreaking original IP from WAGAMI Labs Inc., a creative tech studio, Shinsei Galverse is ready to captivate audiences worldwide with its anime pilot premiering in 2024. This tour de force is just a glimpse of what we can expect and promises an even brighter future for the 8.888 gals! See you space cowgal…
